About The Sentinels Series

While the history of free enterprise is clearly dominated by many stories of high-minded success, it also includes situations where the resources made available by our system of free enterprise have been misdirected and badly manipulated in the pursuit of self-serving agendas, frequently achieved at the public’s expense.

Gordon Zuckerman believes the democratic free-enterprise system represents the goose that lays the golden eggs and that it needs to be protected from those who would abuse the privilege. He has used his writing easel to illustrate what can happen when these unfortunate events are allowed to occur and what can be done to remedy their threat.

Zuckerman writes his works of historical fiction with the informed eyes and ears of an international businessman who has a penchant for history. As a history buff all his life, with an entrepreneurial career that led him to deal routinely with Congress, presidential candidates, four-star generals, foreign leaders, bankers, the US Treasury Department, and a broad cross-section of American enterprise, he became aware of how a few powerful individuals can influence the fate of the world.

Gordon believes any book describing the introduction of and opposition to self-serving agendas must necessarily be a story about people. He has chosen to use the palette of historical events to create the plots of his books, but the stories are told through the intertwining lives of Jacques Roth, Mike Stone, and their high-minded, high-energy, smart, and resourceful problem-solving Sentinel teammates.

His first book, Fortunes of War, delves deeply into the key role played by money in Hitler’s attempt at world domination and how the loss of money helped bring him down.

In the second installment of the Sentinels series, Crude Deception, our heroes return in an epic battle against the Big Oil monopoly. As America's dependence on fossil fuels takes hold in the post-World War II climate of economic growth, seven major oil companies attempt to control 90% of the world’s oil production. In a plotline eerily reminiscent of today’s political climate, the Sentinels fan out across several continents in an intricately plotted mission to thwart Big Oil’s ambitions.

The third book in the series, Voices Behind the Curtain, focuses on the military industrial complexes’ desire, following World War II, to fan the public’s fear of spreading communism and to utilize its collective resources to lobby and elect officials to manipulate defense appropriations for their own self interests. The story is told through the lives of the Sentinels, who are strong, problem-solving, responsible leaders.
